Rail and Infrastructure

Context

Apart from a heavy emphasis on an engineering content within these projects, their intrinsic public service provision demands very high levels of product integrity and safety. In addition to this they are often characterised by an extensive and intricate array of stakeholders, complex financing arrangements and multi-tiered procurement chains. There is growing evidence that organisations' responses to these challenges are being hampered by a shortage of skills in key areas.

Insight

Aikona has been working with a number of clients to address these resource supply issues and prevent them imposing constraints on their capacity to deliver projects. Aikona Infrastructure Division has a unique insight into the challenges that must be overcome to deliver excellence in infrastructure project and programme management. Our aim is to help organisations strengthen their in-house project management capability. We are highly flexible and can support organisations using a wide range of interventions, from needs analysis, knowledge/competence assessment, policy and procedure development, training which can be highly bespoke to a clients requirements, project manager certification and tools training (such as P3e). Our focus is always on how we can deliver value to our clients.

This Division has an impressive customer base within the Infrastructure sector comprising client, consulting and contracting organisations. As well as being the principal supplier of professional development services to Network Rail's Project Management community, we are the major contributor to "Project Pyramid" within Transport for London. This high profile and hugely successful intervention is at the heart of improving public transport in the capital.
